Description: Amy Pick, Pharm.D., BCOP, and Kelly Nystrom, Pharm.D., BCOP will present a three-part session on the changing landscape in the management of cancer including traditional chemotherapy, oral targeted therapies and immune-related  therapies. Strategies to appropriately manage common adverse effects, application and quality of life concerns for the patient will also be discussed.

Health Sciences Distance Educator (6 contact hours)

The six-lesson course will address general distance education issues such as starting a course, instructional methodology, pedagogy, promoting interactions and building a learning community, use of technology, continuous quality improvement, available resources, best practices in distance education and effective on-line discussion.

Cultural Competency and the Muslim Patient (6 contact hours)

The Cultural Competency and the Muslim Patient CE course will provide members of the healthcare team and other interested individuals with key background and practical information essential to provide culturally competent care to help optimize the care of the patients in general but more specifically, the Muslim Patient. Participants will be meeting online with the facilitator weekly, will be involved in weekly interactive online discussions and will be required to complete practical assignments, activities and exercises.

APhA’s Pharmacy-Based Immunization Delivery Certificate Training Program (13th Edition)

APhA’s Pharmacy-Based Immunization Delivery Certificate Training Program (13th Edition) is an innovative, intensive, and practice-based continuing pharmacy education, based on national educational standards for immunization training from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. This program is designed to educate pharmacists about the professional opportunities for vaccine advocacy and administration. This practice-based curriculum represents a fusion of science and clinical pharmacy. The program,  which emphasizes a health care team approach, seeks to foster the implementation of interventions that will promote disease prevention and public health.

This course will be offered on Monday, June 12 and Tuesday, June 13, 2017.
