Advanced Pulmonary Therapeutics (20 contact hours)

Gain in-depth advanced instruction in pharmacotherapeutic management of commonly encountered pulmonary diseases. Emphasis is placed on the efficacy, safety and comparative value of drug therapy in this highly specialized practice area. Didactic knowledge of physiology, pharmacology and drug therapy management is applied to disease states specific to this population of patients with pulmonary diseases.

Emphasis is placed on the efficacy, safety and comparative value of drug therapy in this highly specialized practice area. Didactic knowledge of physiology, pharmacology and drug therapy management is applied to disease states specific to this population. Didactic instruction is combined with practice case studies and interactive discussions concerning critical care pharmacy-related issues.

Health Sciences Distance Educator (6 contact hours)

Gain the skills and experience you need to develop, further develop or design a successful distance learning experience. The six-lesson course will address general distance education issues such as starting a course, instructional methodology, pedagogy, promoting interactions and building a learning community, use of technology, continuous quality improvement, available resources, best practices in distance education and effective on-line discussion.

Cultural Competency and the Muslim Patient Certificate

Learn key background and practical information essential to provide culturally competent care to patients in general, but more specifically to patients within the Muslim community. The certificate is a key step in energizing participants to start their journey to become culturally competent. Participants will meet online with the facilitator weekly, be involved in weekly interactive online discussions and be required to complete practical assignments, activities and exercises.

Annual Homecoming Weekend Continuing Education (September 15, 2016)

“Dying For Pain Relief” The Role of the Pharmacist in the Appropriate Use and Regulation of Opioids (3.0 contact hours)

“Dying for Pain Relief” The Role of the Pharmacist in the Appropriate Use and Regulation of Opioids will provide pharmacists a better understanding of the role in pain management and prevention of opioid prescription abuse. A law enforcement perspective will identify the three most popular drug threats to Nebraska and discuss what the Nebraska State Patrol is doing to combat drug diversion. The course will also describe the changes in Nebraska’s Prescription Drug Monitoring program (LB 471) and a review of the use of naloxone in an overdose prevention program.

Clinical Management of Spasticity Post Neurologic Injury (3.5 contact hours)

The Clinical Management of Spasticity Post Neurologic Injury will provide therapists a better understanding of spasticity with foundation background, assessments and intervention techniques. Therapists will learn hands-on casting techniques during the lab portion.

Delivering Medication Therapy Management Services Certificate (21 CEUs)

Explore your role in providing MTM services to patients. This 21-hour course includes 10 hours of at-home module preparation and an eight-hour hands-on, daylong program and three hours of post-program work.
