Advanced Pulmonary Therapeutics (20 contact hours)
Gain in-depth advanced instruction in pharmacotherapeutic management of commonly encountered pulmonary diseases. Emphasis is placed on the efficacy, safety and comparative value of drug therapy in this highly specialized practice area. Didactic knowledge of physiology, pharmacology and drug therapy management is applied to disease states specific to this population of patients with pulmonary diseases.
Advanced Critical Care Therapeutics (28 contact hours)
Gain in-depth advanced instruction in pharmacotherapeutic management of commonly encountered critical care diseases. Emphasis is placed on the efficacy, safety and comparative value of drug therapy in this highly specialized practice area. Didactic knowledge of physiology, pharmacology and drug therapy management is applied to disease states specific to this population. Didactic instruction is combined with practice case studies and interactive discussions concerning critical care pharmacy-related issues.
Health Sciences Distance Educator (6 contact hours)
Gain the skills and experience you need to develop, further develop or design a successful distance learning experience. The six-lesson course will address general distance education issues such as starting a course, instructional methodology, pedagogy, promoting interactions and building a learning community, use of technology, continuous quality improvement, available resources, best practices in distance education and effective on-line discussion.
Cultural Competency and the Muslim Patient (6 contact hours)
The Cultural Competency and the Muslim Patient CE course will provide members of the healthcare team and other interested individuals with key background and practical information essential to provide culturally competent care to help optimize the care of the patients in general but more specifically, the Muslim Patient. Participants will be meeting online with the facilitator weekly, will be involved in weekly interactive online discussions and will be required to complete practical assignments, activities and exercises.
Teaching Clinically Relevant Medicinal Chemistry (16 contact hours)
Teaching Clinically Relevant Medicinal Chemistry Based on Solid Pedagogy and Instructional Methodology
The facilitator has developed and published several innovative methods in teaching clinically relevant medicinal chemistry. This CE course is intended for pharmacy faculty teaching medicinal chemistry but it also has relevant strategies for healthcare faculty teaching science courses. It is intended to help faculty build on their medicinal chemistry knowledge and incorporate different strategies and adapt them to introduce clinical relevance into the teaching of their medicinal chemistry courses or science courses in general. The course can be beneficial for pharmacology and therapeutics faculty as well as practicing pharmacists to help them revisit why drugs do what they do based on established structure activity relationships (SAR) and how the SAR impact pharmacological and therapeutic action.
The Clinical Toxicology: A Standardized Patient-Oriented Approach
The Clinical Toxicology: A Standardized Patient-Oriented Approach is intended to refresh the basic principles in clinical toxicology and introduce a standardized patient-oriented approach to addressing the poisoned/overdosed patient. This course will utilize the latest evidence in practice based on the clinical literature and protocols from the poison control centers. The program is not intended to make the participants experts but to provide them with key practical information to help them act as first responders and to work collaboratively with ER physicians and poison control centers to address the needs of a poisoned/overdosed patient.
APhA’s Delivering Medication Therapy Management Services Certificate (21 CEUs)

APhA’s Pharmacy-Based Immunization Delivery Certificate Training Program (13th Edition) is an innovative, intensive, and practice-based continuing pharmacy education, based on national educational standards for immunization training from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. This program is designed to educate pharmacists about the professional opportunities for vaccine advocacy and administration. This practice-based curriculum represents a fusion of science and clinical pharmacy. The program, which emphasizes a health care team approach, seeks to foster the implementation of interventions that will promote disease prevention and public health.
