The Department of Pharmacy Sciences conducts leading-edge research in various facets of pharmacy and the pharmaceutical sciences, collaborating with partners in our community and around the world. Our faculty has received patents, grants and awards from government agencies, national associations, foundations and the pharmaceutical industry for their innovative drug delivery research.

As a Doctor of Pharmacy student, you will gain comprehensive knowledge in pharmaceutical care for the whole person. Courses taught by faculty in the Department of Pharmacy Sciences provide foundational and practical knowledge for the Doctor of Pharmacy student in biostatistics, calculations in pharmacy, drug product formulation, ethics, government issues and policies, immunopharmacology, management principles, medicinal chemistry, patient safety, pharmacokinetics, pharmacology, pharmacy history, pharmacy practice law and research design.

Expanding Your Career Opportunities

In addition to the Doctor of Pharmacy degree, students may concurrently pursue an MS degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences or enroll in the Master of Business Administration program to broaden their career prospects.

Welcome to the Department of Pharmacy Sciences at Creighton University.  We strive to provide students exposure to all facets of the profession of pharmacy and the pharmaceutical sciences, increase awareness of health care issues, enhance critical thinking, and improve patient care skills.  We pride ourselves in offering value centered teaching to educate pharmacists who are highly skilled in providing pharmaceutical care, managing medication use, and promoting public health.  We are committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion and strive to weave this into all endeavors.

Our faculty, staff, and graduate students are committed to advancing a diversity of research areas.  This includes drug discovery/medicinal chemistry, pharmaceutics, pharmacokinetics, nanomedicine, ocular disease, the pathogenesis of prion disease, infective endocarditis/antimicrobials, cardiovascular disease pharmacology, pharmacogenomics, social and administrative pharmacy, and patient safety.

Our leading-edge research in various facets of pharmacy, the pharmaceutical sciences and the social and behavioral sciences distinguishes us from other departments within Creighton University. Our research interests extend beyond the University to include national and international collaborating partners.
