Occupational Therapy Student Receives Outstanding Student Award

Fr. Tom Schloemer, SJOccupational Therapy Student Sam Troia received the 2017 Fr. Tom Schloemer, SJ, Outstanding Student Leader award for graduate students. Nominated by the Creighton Student Union Executive Team, Troia was selected for displaying exceptional leadership abilities, integrity, initiative and service.

Troia brings awareness to mental health by serving as president of the Student Empowerment Network, a campus-wide organization committed to empowering each member to have the knowledge and political savvy to make positive change happen for and with individuals with disabilities while increasing an understanding among the student body regarding the nature of various disabilities.

It is especially through his position with this organization that Troia is recognized as a behind-the-scenes leader whom unselfishly contributes his time and talents.
