Welcome to the world of news highlights from the Department of Physical Therapy at Creighton University where many exciting things are on the horizon. Most importantly the faculty and students are the ones who make Creighton such a warm place to engage in one’s vocation. As you will see by some of the stories included in this communication, Creighton physical therapy remains committed to sharing its good fortune with others.
To launch 2020 as a great new beginning, Janice Loudon PT, PhD, SCS, ATC was hired as a full-time faculty member in the department. Dr. Loudon has extensive experience in higher education with past faculty appointments at the University of Kansas Medical Center, Duke University and Rockhurst University. She brings a wealth of research expertise focused in the areas of sports rehabilitation, lower extremity biomechanics, and running injuries. We look forward to Dr. Loudon sharing her breadth of knowledge with both students and faculty alike in the coming years.
We also say thank you to the dedicated service of Joseph Threlkeld, PhD, PT, or Dr. T for those who knew him best. Dr. Threlkeld was a founding faculty member who helped develop the first accredited Doctor of Physical Therapy degree program in the world. His scholarly accomplishments in histologic, biomedical and rehabilitation science helped shape the minds of many practitioners in the field, leaving a legacy for those to follow. Dr. Threlkeld officially retired from the University in January 2020, but his impact on the profession will never be forgotten.
