Creighton University School of Pharmacy and Health Professions has established the Judith R. Gale Master Clinician Scholarship for third-year physical therapy students who demonstrate outstanding promise to develop as master clinicians.
The scholarship will honor Judy Gale, PT, DPT’02, OCS, MPH, associate professor and vice chair for the Department of Physical Therapy, who retired in August after a distinguished career as both a teacher and a clinician.
Gale is a founding member of the Physical Therapy Department and has taught across the breadth of the physical therapy curriculum including Behavioral Concepts and Strategies, Introduction to Differential Diagnosis, Musculoskeletal Physical Therapy and physical therapy labs. She was instrumental in establishing the first orthopedic residency program in the region.
“Judy is both a master clinician and a master teacher. She is the consummate professional who models the highest standards for patient care to our students with an emphasis on caring. The example she sets has made a positive impact on each and every student who has earned a DPT degree at Creighton,” Karen Paschal, PT, DPT, professor of ;physical therapy, said.
In addition to her academic involvement at Creighton, Gale has also served as a consultant for YMCA osteoporosis training and the Creighton Osteoporosis Research Center. She also provides pro bono physical therapy care at the Heartland Ministry Center.
Gale has received numerous awards such as Creighton University physical therapy educator of the year, Nebraska Physical Therapy Association achievement in education award, and the School of Pharmacy and Health Professions excellence in education award.
