Student Support

SUPPORTING FUTURE ALUMNI AS THEY BECOME HEALTH PROFESSIONALS.

SPAHP Alumni Student Support

The SPAHP Alumni Relations Office, in collaboration with the SPAHP Alumni Advisory Board, is here to guide Creighton students to a better experience while here at Creighton and to become active alumni. Supporting the SPAHP Office of Academic and Student Affairs (OASA) and the University Relations Student and Recent Alumni Engagement team, we will work to connect student groups with alumni and peers, provide exclusive access to unique events on campus, and assist to help students gain leadership experience.

Alumni Mentoring Program

The SPAHP Alumni Advisory Board began the Alumni-Student Mentor Program in the fall 2014. The program matches alumni mentors to as many students to apply as possible. Mentors offer student support and encouragement in order that they may maximize their professional potential, develop their skills, improve their performance and become the health professional they aspire to be. Learn more.

Housing while on clinical Assignment

Students can apply to the Office of Alumni Relations to complete a search for housing with alumni in the location where the student will be temporarily living while completing a clerkship, fieldwork or other clinical experience.

Learn more about the program and request housing assistance, here.

Centennial Scholarship Application

The Alumni Centennial Scholarship was established in 1905 by SPAHP alumni to commemorate the School’s 100 years of health. All occupational therapy, pharmacy and physical therapy students are encouraged to apply.

Fall Presentation

Alumni expert panel programming is offered each fall to SPAHP students through the collaborative efforts of the SPAHP Alumni Advisory Board and the Pharmacy and Health Professions Student Government (PHPSG).  Gain valuable insight from experience alumni in each of the three SPAHP professions.

Spring Etiquette Dinner

The SPAHP Alumni Advisory Board teams with Creighton Career Services in the spring offering of an Etiquette Dinner and Cocktail Reception for SPAHP students, alumni, faculty and staff. The purpose of the event is to provide alumni and student networking as well as an opportunity to learn and practice professional, social and table etiquette.

National Meeting Support

It is a tradition that the SPAHP Dean and AAB host a free meal for students traveling to the AOTA, APhA and APTA CSM national professional meetings, further supporting the professional development of our alumni-in-residence.  The atmosphere is informal and students from the various program pathways are able to connect with each other, AAB directors and the Dean.

New Student Referral Program

The New Student Referral Program encourages alumni to refer prospective students to the School of Pharmacy and Health Professions.

Recognition

All alumni who refer prospective students are recognized through an article in the dean’s newsletter each winter and in the dinner program for the dean’s dinner during alumni weekend. Special recognition will be given to the alumni who refers the most students in a program year (October 1 through September 1).

  • BlueJay Level: Refers three or more prospective students in a program year. At this level, the alumnus and a guest will be invited to the dean’s dinner during alumni weekend. They’ll also receive two tickets to the Creighton/Nebraska baseball game in conjunction with the May SPAHP Get Blue Baseball and BBQ pregame event. Finally, they’ll receive an item of their choice from a list of SPAHP promotional products and receive recognition in the winter issue of the dean’s newsletter.

Graduating Student Transition

In addition to a gift from SPAHP Alumni Advisory Board at Hooding and a graduating class composite print, Creighton offers additional resources to alumni just starting out such as email and library access, continuing education and career connections. Recent alumni (those having graduated in the last 10 years) should look no further than Creighton’s SPAHP Alumni Association to start learning about career options, connecting with alumni where they live or work and how to build their skills for success in the “real world.”
